Commissioner must issue Minnesota hockey special license plates for passenger automobiles, noncommercial one-ton pickup trucks, motorcycles, and recreational vehicles upon application and payment of required fees and registration tax.

Applicants must contribute a minimum of $20 annually to the Minnesota youth hockey account to obtain and maintain special plates.

Plate design must be adopted in consultation with Minnesota Hockey.

Special plates may be transferred to another qualifying vehicle registered to the same individual for a $5 transfer fee.

Annual contributions are deposited in the Minnesota youth hockey account in the special revenue fund, with funds appropriated to the commissioner of public safety for account administration and distribution to Minnesota Hockey to support youth hockey throughout the state, effective January 1, 2024.
