Amends the definition of "elevator" to replace "wheelchair platform lifts" with "platform lifts" in Minnesota Statutes section 326B.163, subdivision 5.

Adds a new subdivision 5a defining "platform lift" as a powered hoisting and lowering device designed to transport mobility-impaired persons on a guided platform.

Exempts employees of licensed elevator contractors from licensing requirements and direct supervision when installing, maintaining, or repairing platform lifts and stairway chairlifts.

Exempts contractors and individuals from elevator licensing requirements when performing work on conveyors (including vertical reciprocating conveyors), certain platform lifts not covered under the new definition, and dock levelers.

Clarifies that the exemption does not apply to installation, maintenance, repair, or replacement of electrical wiring for elevator equipment.
