Courts must prepare a deferred sentence report when imposing a deferred sentence under Minnesota Statutes section 609.1056, subdivision 2, containing defendant name, case number, charges, probation term, conditions, and sentencing worksheet.

Courts must prepare a violation report if a defendant violates probation conditions and receives an adjudication of guilt, including defendant name, case number, whether the violation was technical or involved a subsequent criminal act, and the announced sentence.

The Sentencing Guidelines Commission must forward all deferred sentence and violation reports to compile summary data for an annual report due by January 15 each year.

The Sentencing Guidelines Commission's annual report must include the number of deferred sentences granted by county, adjudications of guilt by county, breakdowns of technical violations versus subsequent criminal acts, and dismissed proceedings by county, submitted to committees with jurisdiction over public safety and veterans affairs.

The reporting requirements are effective August 1, 2024, and apply to deferred sentences announced on or after that date.
