Department of Education must employ a state school librarian within the State Library Services Division to provide technical assistance to licensed school library media specialists and school librarians.

State school librarian must be or have been a licensed school library media specialist.

Responsibilities include providing advice on academic standards development, statewide library data collection, intellectual freedom, media and digital literacy, and support for professional development and licensure acquisition.

State school librarian may advise Department of Education staff on state library aid administration and district compliance monitoring.

State school librarian reports to the director of State Library Services.
