Road authorities may issue special permits allowing vehicles to transport up to 122,000 pounds of sugar beets on three specified roads in East Grand Forks: U.S. Highway 2 (1.2 miles), Fifth Avenue Northeast (0.9 miles), and Business Highway 2 (0.3 miles)

Vehicles operating under this permit are exempt from vehicle weight limitations in section 169.824 and axle limitations in section 169.828

Permits expire on June 30, 2027

Road authorities must submit a report by January 1, 2028 evaluating the impact of increased weight limits on specified roads and whether sugar beet hauling permits should be authorized in the future

Permit fee is $60 per year
