School principals or administrators must make a good faith attempt to notify parents or guardians when a public school student is pulled out of class for more than ten minutes in an unscheduled removal that the student did not request or was unaware of by the parent.

Classroom teachers must document the date and reason a student was pulled out of class and provide this record to the school principal or administrator for inclusion in the student's permanent record.

Schools must keep a record of parental notification attempts when students are removed from class under the specified circumstances.

The requirement applies to unscheduled removals where the student did not request to leave class or the parent was unaware of the removal.

The law becomes effective for the 2024-2025 school year and all subsequent school years.
