Commissioner must issue Lake Minnetonka special plates or motorcycle plates to registered owners of passenger automobiles, noncommercial one-ton pickup trucks, motorcycles, or recreational vehicles who meet eligibility requirements.

Applicants must pay an additional special plate fee, registration tax, standard fees, and contribute a minimum of $40 annually to the boater safety account.

Plate design must be adopted in consultation with the Lake Minnetonka Conservation District and include the text "Lake Minnetonka Conservation District."

Special plates may be transferred to another qualified vehicle registered to the same individual for a $5 transfer fee.

Annual contributions to the boater safety account are appropriated to the commissioner of public safety, with funds first covering administration costs and remaining funds distributed to the Lake Minnetonka Conservation District for boater safety promotion.
