Modifies Minnesota Statutes section 144G.63 to require all direct care staff and supervisors at licensed assisted living facilities to demonstrate understanding of training in dementia, mental illness, and de-escalation.

Requires supervisors to complete at least 8 hours of initial training within 120 working hours of employment start date, with option to provide proof of completion within past 18 months.

Requires direct care staff to complete at least 8 hours of initial training within 120 working hours of employment start date and prohibits them from providing direct care alone until training is complete.

Requires non-direct care staff (maintenance, housekeeping, food service) to complete at least 4 hours of initial training within 160 working hours of employment start date.

Mandates all staff complete at least 2 hours of annual training covering topics including trauma-informed care, de-escalation techniques, crisis resolution, suicide prevention, mental illness recognition, medications, and support strategies for residents with co-occurring conditions including dementia; facilities must inform prospective residents of their training program.

Effective date: January 1, 2025.
