• Amends Laws 2023, chapter 64, article 4, section 27, subdivision 6 to modify eligible uses of public safety aid for counties, Tribal governments, and local units.

• Permits use of public safety aid to purchase armored or tactical vehicles and to fund construction, reconstruction, remodeling, expansion, or improvement of police stations, including related facilities such as access roads, lighting, sidewalks, and utility components.

• Prohibits use of public safety aid for purchase of tear gas, chemical munitions, or substantially similar items.

• Maintains existing prohibitions on using aid for employer contributions to the public employees police and fire fund (if the recipient received police state aid in calendar year 2022) and for costs associated with alleged wrongdoing or misconduct.

• Effective retroactively for aids payable in 2023.
