$500,000 appropriated from the general fund in fiscal year 2025 to the commissioner of agriculture for a grant to The Good Acre for the Local Emergency Assistance Farmer Fund (LEAFF) program.

Base appropriation continues at $500,000 for fiscal year 2026 and thereafter.

LEAFF program provides emerging farmers with technical assistance in food safety, delivery, quality standards, and packaging requirements.

Grant funds support expansion of the LEAFF program to greater Minnesota and increase emerging farmers' access to the program.

LEAFF program must donate produce purchased through the program to hunger relief partners, including The Food Group.
