Expands the definition of "transit operator" under Minnesota's gross misdemeanor assault statute to include transportation network company drivers operating personal vehicles.

Classifies assault on a transit operator (including intentionally transferring bodily fluids) as a gross misdemeanor punishable by up to 364 days imprisonment and/or a fine of up to $3,000.

Covers operators of public transit, light rail, special transportation services, commuter rail, and ride-sharing services provided through transportation network companies.

Applies only when the operator is acting in the course of their duties and operating, aboard, or responsible for a transit vehicle.

Effective August 1, 2024, and applies to crimes committed on or after that date.
