Teacher preparation programs must include instruction on ableism and disability justice provided by a person with a disability as a requirement for board approval, effective July 1, 2024.

All licensed teachers renewing their teaching license must complete at least two hours of instruction on ableism and disability justice provided by a person with a disability as part of renewal requirements.

The Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board must adopt rules to implement the teacher license renewal requirement for ableism and disability justice instruction.

An unspecified amount from the general fund is appropriated to the Department of Education in fiscal year 2025 for rulemaking related to ableism and disability justice requirements.
