70 percent of solid waste management tax revenues must be credited to the environmental fund established in section 16A.531, subdivision 1.

3 percent of revenues shall be deposited into the resource management account in fiscal year 2025, increasing to 30 percent in fiscal year 2026 and later.

From the resource management account, 70 percent is distributed to counties under section 115A.557 and 30 percent funds competitive grants furthering solid waste management goals and waste management capital assistance grants.

The remainder of tax revenues are deposited into the general fund.

The effective date is July 1, 2024.
