Commissioner must issue waterfowl critical habitat special license plates to owners of passenger automobiles, noncommercial one-ton pickup trucks, motorcycles, or recreational motor vehicles who meet eligibility requirements.

Applicants must pay the standard special plate fee, registration tax, and contribute a minimum of $30 annually to the Minnesota critical habitat private sector matching account.

Commissioner must design plates in consultation with the commissioner of natural resources and other interested groups.

Special plates may be transferred to another qualified vehicle registered to the same individual upon application and payment of a $5 transfer fee.

Contributions collected are deposited in the Minnesota critical habitat private sector matching account; effective date is January 1, 2025.
