State agencies and political subdivisions may accept gifts (money, property, plaques, or services) to honor or commemorate a public safety officer killed in the line of duty, if received within 24 months of the officer's death

Gifts must be distributed within one year of receipt according to donor intentions, and agencies must report gift details to the Commissioner of Public Safety within three months of use

Local governments may spend money on funerals or memorials for public safety officers killed in the line of duty

Local governments may fund travel and participation for employees and their immediate family members to attend national fallen officer memorial events within 24 months of a line-of-duty death

Local governments and school districts may solicit contributions for National Night Out events and other activities that foster positive law enforcement-community relationships
