Locations with outdoor public access automatic external defibrillators (AEDs) may request road authorities place directional signage on nearby roads identifying the AED location

Qualifying participants must meet registration, notice, and inspection requirements under section 403.51; place the device in a recognizable, accessible location; and have visible on-premises signage

Road authorities must determine sign placement within 180 days of a request (60 days if practicable), with all installation, maintenance, and removal costs paid by the requesting participant

Commissioner of Transportation must develop standardized AED directional signage incorporating the universal AED symbol by September 1, 2025, and maintain related information on the department website

Section 1 takes effect October 1, 2025; the sign development requirement takes effect the day following final enactment
