Eliminates the duty to retreat before using reasonable force in self-defense or defense of others by amending Minnesota Statutes section 609.06, subdivision 1

Allows a person to use reasonable force to resist an offense against themselves or another regardless of whether a reasonable possibility of retreat exists

Applies specifically to defensive force situations under clause (3) of the existing statute, which covers resisting offenses against persons

Effective date of August 1, 2025, applying only to acts committed on or after that date
