Teacher preparation programs approved by the Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board become eligible for all current and future state grant programs supporting teacher preparation, licensure, or recruitment

Eligible programs include Grow Your Own, collaborative urban and greater Minnesota educators of color grants, student teaching stipends, underrepresented student teacher grants, shortage area grants, aspiring teachers of color scholarships, mentorship programs, and teacher shortage loan repayment

Commissioner of Education must include all Board-approved teacher preparation programs in requests for proposals, grant opportunity notices, and eligibility determinations

Grow Your Own program eligibility expands to allow Board-approved teacher preparation programs to apply directly for grants, with at least 80% of funds required for tuition scholarships or stipends for candidates of color or American Indian seeking teaching licenses

Effective date is July 1, 2025, applying to grant awards and opportunities issued on or after that date
