Medical Assistance (Medicaid) must cover services provided by licensed pharmacists when those services fall within both a pharmacist's and physician's scope of practice

Reimbursement rates for pharmacists must be no lower than the standard payment rate for physicians providing the same service

Coverage applies to both fee-for-service Medical Assistance and managed care/county-based purchasing plans

MinnesotaCare must also cover and pay for pharmacy services under the same requirements as Medical Assistance

Effective January 1, 2026, or upon federal approval, whichever is later
