State and local government employees elected to the state legislature retain full seniority status, efficiency ratings, vacation, insurance benefits, sick leave, and other benefits during mandatory legislative leave as if no leave had been taken

Employers are prohibited from subtracting periods of mandatory legislative leave when calculating an employee's length of service

Pension and retirement benefit rights for state employees on legislative leave are aligned with existing protections for local government employees under section 3.088

Effective date is July 1, 2027, applying to collective bargaining agreements that take effect on or after that date
