School districts may choose to implement either statewide health education standards or locally developed health education standards, giving districts control over health curriculum content

Locally developed health standards remain valid until statewide health standards become available; once available, each district must decide which standards to adopt

Districts implementing local health standards must establish a periodic review cycle for their health education standards and benchmarks, and align graduation requirements accordingly

The definition of "required standard" is expanded to include locally adopted expectations for student learning in health education as an alternative to statewide standards

All provisions take effect July 1, 2025
