$125,000 appropriated in fiscal year 2026 to the Commissioner of Agriculture for compensation for livestock destroyed or crippled by wolves, with up to $5,000 available to reimburse university extension educators for fair market valuations

$125,000 appropriated in fiscal year 2026 for compensation for crop or fence damage caused by elk, with up to $10,000 for claim investigations and training, and up to $40,000 for grants to protect stored crops from elk damage

If federal funding is received for wolf-related livestock claims, equivalent state funds may be redirected to reimburse nonlethal wolf prevention methods performed by federal wildlife services staff

Commissioner may transfer funds between the wolf and elk compensation programs if claims for either are unusually high

Both appropriations are onetime funding from the general fund, available until June 30, 2027, and effective the day following final enactment
