Amends Minnesota Statutes section 624.712, subdivision 5, to add felony convictions under Chapter 343 (prevention of cruelty to animals) to the legal definition of "crime of violence"

Classifying animal cruelty as a "crime of violence" triggers enhanced consequences including restrictions on firearm possession and potential sentence enhancements

The expanded definition also applies to attempts to commit animal cruelty offenses

Effective August 1, 2026, applying only to crimes committed on or after that date
