Commission will study security needs of state legislators and staff while in legislative districts and review proposed legislation impacting security for elected officials and staff

Members serve two-year terms beginning January 16 of each odd-numbered year, with specific procedures for filling vacancies during and between legislative sessions

Chair position alternates between a senator and a house member in January of each odd-numbered year

Commission may hire professional and technical staff to carry out its duties
