Restructures the 17-member Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Board to require geographic balance, with positions split between metropolitan and non-metropolitan areas for sheriff representatives, municipal police chiefs, and peace officers.

Requires professional associations (Minnesota Sheriffs' Association, Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association, Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association, Minnesota State Patrol Association, and League of Minnesota Cities) to submit slates of at least two candidates for the governor to consider when making relevant appointments.

Adds two new positions for Minnesota State Patrol Association members and changes the board chair selection from gubernatorial appointment to election by board members.

Bars current board members (except the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension superintendent) as of January 1, 2027 from initial appointments for four years, with staggered terms for new appointees expiring between 2028 and 2031.

Takes effect January 1, 2027, with the transition provisions expiring July 1, 2031.
