Assaulting an employee or agent of a housing and redevelopment authority while they perform official duties constitutes a gross misdemeanor

Assault that inflicts demonstrable bodily harm is elevated to a felony, punishable by up to 2 years imprisonment, a fine of up to $4,000, or both

"Employee or agent" is defined broadly to include paid staff, contractors, and volunteers working in property management, inspections, tenant services, compliance, legal representation, and other housing authority functions

Applies to crimes committed on or after August 1, 2026
