Health plans must cover medically necessary treatment of inherited metabolic diseases, including medical foods and low-protein modified food products (formulated to have less than one gram of protein per serving)

Coverage cannot be subject to limitations such as cost-sharing, prior authorization, utilization review, referral requirements, or delays that do not apply to other services under the plan

Medical Assistance (Medicaid) must also cover inherited metabolic disease treatment under the same requirements as private health plans

Creates new section 62Q.536 in Minnesota Statutes and amends section 256B.0625 by adding subdivision 77
