Health plans covering neurological conditions are prohibited from requiring enrollees to follow step therapy protocols for FDA-approved drugs that are on the plan's formulary

The prohibition applies when the drug's use is consistent with both an FDA-approved indication and a clinical practice guideline

"Neurological condition" is defined as any disorder from accident or illness that causes impairment in neurological function

Effective January 1, 2027, applying to health plans offered, issued, or renewed on or after that date

Creates new section 62Q.1842 in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 62Q (health insurance regulations)
