Requires majority vote approval from both houses of the legislature to extend a governor-declared peacetime emergency beyond the initial 30-day period

Limits each legislative extension of a peacetime emergency to a maximum of 30 additional days, with the governor able to propose subsequent extensions requiring new legislative approval

Requires the governor to provide at least 3 days' notice to legislative leaders before calling the legislature into session to consider emergency extensions when the legislature is not in session

Prohibits the governor from allowing an emergency declaration to expire and declaring a new emergency for the same event to circumvent the legislative approval requirement

Takes effect the day following final enactment and amends Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 12.31, subdivision 2
