Licensed hospitals and birth centers must provide parents of newborns with written materials on recognizing signs of physical abuse in infants and how to report suspected abuse before discharge

Written materials must be obtained from or approved by the Commissioner of Health

Commissioner of Health must develop educational materials and make them available to hospitals, birth centers, and interested individuals at cost

Commissioner must review and approve or disapprove materials submitted by facilities, and may suggest modifications to disapproved materials to enable approval

Creates new section 144.575 in Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 144
