Traffic violations committed in a manner that endangers or is likely to endanger any person or property are elevated from petty misdemeanor to misdemeanor status

Dangerous traffic violations cannot be placed on the uniform fine schedule by the Judicial Council and require a mandatory court appearance

Repeat traffic offenders with two or more petty misdemeanor convictions within the preceding 12 months face an additional surcharge equal to the amount of the fine imposed for the violation

Effective August 1, 2025, applying to violations occurring on or after that date
