First-time violation of driving without a valid license is a misdemeanor with a minimum fine of $300; second violation within ten years increases the minimum fine to $550

Third or subsequent violation within ten years elevates the offense to a gross misdemeanor with a minimum fine of $850

Penalties apply to driving with a revoked, canceled, or disqualified license, as well as driving after suspension

Exemption provided for drivers whose license has been expired for less than three months

Effective date is August 1, 2025, applying to violations occurring on or after that date
