School districts and charter schools must develop cardiac emergency response plans beginning in the 2026-2027 school year to address sudden cardiac arrest incidents on school grounds and at school-sponsored events

Automated external defibrillators (AEDs) must be placed in unlocked locations at each school facility and athletic venue, accessible within one to three minutes of practice or competition sites

Coaches, assistant coaches, and designated school staff must receive CPR and AED training, with emergency response teams required to complete cardiac emergency simulation training at least 30 days before each school year

Minnesota State High School League must adopt a cardiac emergency response plan and ensure a response team is present at each interscholastic athletic activity

$2,000,000 one-time appropriation in fiscal year 2026 to the Department of Education for AED purchases, CPR training equipment, first aid training, and educational materials, available until June 30, 2027
