$300,000 appropriated in fiscal year 2026 from the workforce development fund to the Commissioner of Labor and Industry for a grant to Independent School District No. 294, Houston, for Minnesota Virtual Academy's emergency medicine career pathways program, available until June 30, 2028

Program provides up to two semesters of coursework leading to eligibility for emergency medical responder or emergency medical technician certification

Grant funds may support student participation through academic, counseling, and other support services provided by students' enrolling school districts

Program must conduct outreach to students of color, Indigenous students, low-income students, students throughout Minnesota, and underserved students

Annual written reports required from January 15, 2027 through January 15, 2029 to legislative committees, documenting program spending, student participation, certification outcomes, demographic data, and recommendations for statewide career pathways programs
