Former state legislators are prohibited from acting as or registering as a lobbyist for two years after leaving legislative service

Violations are subject to a civil penalty of up to $25,000 or the amount earned from lobbying, whichever is less

The Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board is authorized to impose the civil penalties

Creates new section 10A.035 in Minnesota Statutes

Applies only to legislators who leave office on or after the bill's effective date (day following final enactment)
