Veterans, as defined in Minnesota Statutes section 197.447, would be allowed to carry a pistol anywhere a permit to carry is normally required by possessing their original or certified copy of DD214 discharge papers

DD214 military discharge papers would serve as the legal equivalent of a permit to carry, eliminating the need for veterans to apply for a separate permit

Veterans would be exempt from paying permit fees and demonstrating firearm safety training requirements

All other existing laws and provisions relating to permits to carry pistols would still apply to veterans carrying under this subdivision
