Local law enforcement agencies may place and operate automated license plate readers at stationary locations within trunk highway, county state-aid highway, or county highway rights-of-way

Law enforcement must notify the highway authority at least 14 days before placement and immediately after removal, including specific location information for each reader

Readers must be affixed to existing traffic signs, lighting devices, or traffic-control devices, or placed following commissioner-developed guidance

Placement cannot create collision hazards for motorists or impair proper highway function, and must be within the law enforcement agency's jurisdiction

Amends Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 160.27 by adding subdivision 15 to create an exception to existing right-of-way restrictions
