Creates a new optional license plate category for rental motor vehicles, available to auto rental companies that rent at least 50 vehicles at daily rates

Rental motor vehicle plates are issued for a seven-year period and must display the phrase "RENTAL MOTOR VEHICLE"

Plates may be transferred between vehicles within the same rental company's fleet for a $5 transfer fee, which is retained by the deputy registrar

Rental vehicle plates are exempt from displaying registration stickers and from certain plate restrictions under section 168.1293

Effective July 1, 2026, or when the Department of Public Safety makes the plates available, whichever is sooner
