Building owners must establish fire life safety damper and smoke control system inspection programs, with required testing after the first year of installation and every four years thereafter (every six years for hospitals)

Single-family homes and multifamily buildings with four or fewer units are exempt from the requirements

Inspectors must be authorized fire department personnel, holders of specific state licenses, or technicians certified by the International Certification Board (ICB) who work for independent contractors with workers' compensation insurance and participate in approved apprenticeship programs

Building owners must submit certificates of operation to the state fire marshal within 30 days of testing and post public verification notices; deficiencies must be corrected within 30 days

Noncompliant building owners face a $100 civil penalty per day, with the act taking effect following enactment of state fire marshal administrative rules or July 1, 2025, whichever occurs first
