Expands eligibility for line-of-duty death benefits to include part-time firefighters, paid on-call firefighters, and volunteer firefighters, in addition to full-time firefighters already covered under current law

Extends coverage to firefighters working for independent nonprofit firefighting corporations, not just state or governmental subdivision fire departments

Qualifying duties for coverage include nonroutine stressful or strenuous physical firefighting, training exercises, emergency motor vehicle operation, fire investigation, emergency medical services, and hazardous material response

Consolidates firefighter categories into a single statutory provision, eliminating a separate clause that previously covered volunteer firefighters and nonprofit firefighting corporation members only for "hazards of firefighting"

Adopts definitions for volunteer, paid on-call, part-time, and full-time firefighters from Minnesota Statutes section 424A.001, subdivisions 10 to 10c
