Local governments may adopt ordinances setting posted maximum speed limits for electric-assisted bicycles within business districts, with limits becoming effective upon installation of appropriate signage marking the beginning and end of restricted segments

Peace officers employed by the local government may issue $60 administrative citations for e-bike speed limit violations, with citations required to list the actual speed traveled at the time of violation

E-bike speed limit violations will not be recorded on an individual's driving record, including for holders of commercial driver's licenses or learner's permits

Fines collected from e-bike speed violations are split with one-third going to the local government collecting the fine and two-thirds deposited into the state's active transportation account

Effective date is July 1, 2025 for citations issued on or after that date
