Fire department chiefs must report any fire involving an alternative energy system to the state fire marshal, including information on cause, origin, circumstances, financial damage, and injuries or deaths

"Alternative energy system" is defined as systems collecting energy from wind, solar, hydro, geothermal, or other renewable sources for heating, cooling, or power generation

In cities or towns without fire departments, the mayor or town clerk is responsible for submitting fire reports to the state fire marshal

State fire marshal must submit an annual summary of these fire reports to legislative fire safety committee leaders by February 15 each year
