School districts and American Indian-controlled Tribal contract or grant schools are eligible to apply, with the commissioner required to seek geographic balance among selected participants

$1,000,000 one-time appropriation from the general fund in fiscal year 2027 for program implementation

Funds may cover DNR personnel costs, curriculum development, reporting, school staff training, outdoor sports licenses for students, and equipment

Commissioner must submit a written report to legislative education and natural resources committees by January 15, 2027 on funded activities and program outcomes
