Amends Minnesota Statutes section 624.712, subdivision 5, to add felony convictions under Chapter 343 (prevention of cruelty to animals) to the definition of "crime of violence"

Felony animal cruelty convictions would carry the same legal consequences as other crimes of violence, which include restrictions on firearm possession and enhanced sentencing considerations

Attempts to commit animal cruelty offenses would also qualify as crimes of violence under this expansion

Effective date is August 1, 2026, applying only to crimes committed on or after that date
