Authorizes tow trucks and towing vehicles to display portable variable message signs while performing emergency service on or near the traveled portion of a highway

Requires portable variable message signs to conform to standards in the Minnesota Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices

Amends Minnesota Statutes section 168B.16, which currently only addresses flashing light requirements for tow trucks

Existing law remains unchanged requiring tow trucks to have commissioner-approved flashing red and amber lights visible from 500 feet, mounted at the highest practicable point on the vehicle dome
