Adds security officers providing services in hospitals or clinics to the list of protected persons under Minnesota's assault statute (section 609.2231, subdivision 2)

Physically assaulting a hospital or clinic security officer constitutes a gross misdemeanor under the amended law

Assault that inflicts demonstrable bodily harm elevates the offense to a felony, punishable by up to 3 years imprisonment, a fine up to $6,000, or both

Extends existing protections already provided to firefighters, emergency medical personnel, and hospital emergency department healthcare workers

Effective August 1, 2026, applying to crimes committed on or after that date
