Health carriers in Minnesota would be prohibited from using algorithms or artificial intelligence programs to approve or deny prior authorization requests for health insurance coverage

Amends Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 62A.59, by adding a new subdivision specifically addressing AI and algorithm use in prior authorization decisions

Effective date of January 1, 2026, applying to health plans offered, sold, issued, or renewed on or after that date
