Eligible security improvements include bullet-resistant doors and windows, ballistic wall panels, magnetic door-locking systems, remote lock-down activation, classroom duress alarms linked to law enforcement, mass notification systems, and emergency building access systems for first responders

Requires schools to contract with state-approved vendors who have at least two years of experience providing school security services; vendors must be authorized by the Minnesota School Safety Center

Applicants generally must provide a nonstate funding match unless located in a city with below-median net tax capacity per capita or experiencing hardship; up to 5% of appropriations may be used for program administration
