Teachers who are union members may elect to allocate all or a portion of their union dues or membership fees to the local, state, or national labor organization of their choice, rather than having dues go solely to their exclusive representative.

Exclusive representatives must notify teacher union members of this dues allocation option, and all dues deduction authorization forms must clearly present this choice.

Public employee teachers must be informed that federal law prohibits them from being compelled to join a union or pay union dues or fees.

Employers must remit payroll deductions for teachers to the organization of the employee's choice within 30 days of the deduction.

Amends Minnesota Statutes sections 10A.12, 179A.06, and 181.06 to apply these provisions to both public and private sector teachers.
