Trails funded with state grants-in-aid for all-terrain vehicles, off-road vehicles, or off-highway motorcycles are closed to nonmotorized use (hiking, skiing, snowshoeing) unless specifically designated for such use

Local governments may designate motorized grant-in-aid trails for nonmotorized use by following the same formal process required for motorized trail designation, with commissioner and landowner concurrence

The nonmotorized use designation process may coincide with new grant-in-aid trail designation processes

Exceptions to motorized vehicle restrictions on nonmotorized trails include motorized wheelchairs for physically disabled individuals and electric-assisted bicycles

Amends Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 85.018, subdivisions 2 and 4, and adds new subdivision 4a
